Lesson Plan Options and
Supports
- A Track or B
Track?
A
Track placement requires
that the student has already
had training in
one-paragraph essays as
Essay Writing B, the
course plan for the first
part of Frode Jensen's
Format Writing text,
covers. If your student has
not yet completed
instruction in one-paragraph
essay formats then it is
best to use the B Track
versions of all of the Greek
Studies courses. B Track
courses have fewer and
adjusted writing assignments
and lighter reading plans.
- Course
Guides
Course Guides offer
daily lesson plans,
assignment schedules, and
expanded study tools to
stimulate thought and
discussion about key ideas
in the readings for the
semester's integrated
courses. Course
Guides include the Greek Studies:
Introduction & Appendix.
- Online
Quizzes with Study Guide
Access from August 1st until
June 30th to automatically
graded, online quizzes for
the semester's courses AND a
printed study guide to help
prepare students for the
online quizzes. The
online quizzes work with STAA
Weekly Assignment Sheets
(requires enrollment in
St. Thomas Aquinas
Academy's academic
advisory, placement, and
transcript program) and
Course Guides.
-
Advisor Grading of Key
Assignments
Evaluation and
grading of the course's key
writing assignments are
available on a per course
basis.
Requires at least periodic
internet access so student
and/or teaching-parent may
submit and retrieve
assignments. All assignments
must be submitted between
August 1st and June 30th.
Grading packages expire at
midnight on June 30th.
Advisor Grading Packages

Greek Studies I and II,
Course Guides
SEMESTER 1: Greek Studies I,
A Track is an integrated
plan including semester plans
for Essay Writing A (training in
five-paragraph essays), Old
Testament Ia, Greek History Ia,
Greek Literature Ia, and
Astronomy Ia. If the student has
not yet completed the first
section of Frode Jensen’s
Format Writing covering the
various one-paragraph essay
formats, then it is best to use
Greek Studies I, B Track
instead. A Track and B Track
differ in the composition
instruction, amount of writing
required, and amount of reading
required. Typically, B Track is
appropriate for students in
Grades 9 and 10 and A Track for
students in Grades 11 and 12.
Even though the assignments
differ and there is some
variation in the required
reading, the readings in the
tracks line up so families with
multiple high school students
can use B Track for the younger
high school students and A Track
for the older, or any
combination thereof that is
appropriate for the students’
reading and writing abilities.
Greek Studies I, B Track
is an integrated plan including
semester plans for Essay Writing
B (training in one-paragraph
essays), Old Testament Ib, Greek
History Ib, Greek Literature Ib,
and Astronomy Ib.
SEMESTER 2: Greek Studies II,
A Track requires prior
completion of Essay Writing A
(training in writing
five-paragraph essay formats).
Greek Studies II, B Track
should be used by student who
have not yet completed Essay
Writing A. Greek
Studies II, A Track is an
integrated plan including
semester plans for Logic A, Old
Testament IIa, Greek History IIa,
Greek Literature IIa, Astronomy
IIa, and Greek Playwrights A.
Greek Studies II, B Track
is an integrated plan including
semester plans for Logic B, Old
Testament IIb, Greek History IIb,
Greek Literature IIb, Astronomy
IIb, and Greek Playwrights B.
The courses in the Greek Studies
I and II guides were designed to
complement each other in time
requirements, writing
requirements, and with their
intertwining content. Each
course has a day-by-day lesson
plan for two weeks of
preparation and sixteen weeks of
academics. Together, the guides
offer a year-long plan for
Composition/Logic, Religion,
Social Studies, Literature,
Science, and Fine Arts.
